Anderson County, SC
Fence Company in Wren, SC
New subdivisions on raw graded clay, an architectural committee to satisfy and an empty back yard waiting for its first fence. That is most of the work in Wren.
Most people calling a fence company in Wren, SC are calling about a yard that has never had a fence in it. This is the fast growing corner of Anderson County near the Greenville County line, so the typical job here is a first fence on a lot that was pasture or timber four years ago, and we have built 55 plus fences across the Upstate since 2018 with 4.7 stars from 24 Google reviews.
We are a service area business, which means the quote happens in your yard rather than in a showroom. Free, on site, no deposit and no obligation, 7am to 7pm seven days a week, with no trip charge anywhere in Anderson County.
The schools that pulled the subdivisions in
Wren is not a town. It is a community in northern Anderson County known locally by its schools, all in Anderson School District One: Wren Elementary on Roper Road, Wren Middle and Wren High School on Wren School Road. Wren High opened in 1957 and now runs around 1,250 students.
Growth here is not a marketing claim, it is a documented problem. District One voted in 2008 to build a separate high school for the Powdersville side because Wren had outgrown itself, and Powdersville High opened in August 2011 with 265 students in its first two grades. Neighboring Powdersville had 10,025 residents at the 2020 census. Anderson County planning meetings on the Highway 81 corridor now routinely hear from school administrators about capacity and portable classrooms as new subdivisions come forward.
For us that translates into a steady stream of nearly identical jobs: newly closed houses, bare back yards, families who want the dog contained and the pool enclosed before summer.
What a builder leaves behind in a new back yard
A newly graded Wren lot is not topsoil with clay somewhere below it. The topsoil was scraped off, the Cecil subsoil was cut, filled and then rolled by heavy equipment, and a thin skin of sod or straw went over the top. That compacted red clay is what our posts go into, and it drains slowly enough that a narrow hole holds water for days after a storm.
The grading also leaves shapes that matter. Builders cut swales along rear and side lot lines to move water between houses, and those swales are frequently inside a recorded drainage easement. A fence set in the bottom of one will dam it and turn your neighbor's runoff into your problem, so we look at where water goes before we pick a line.
The one advantage of a new lot is precision. The survey pins are usually still in the ground and the plat is recent, so we can set a line to the actual boundary instead of negotiating with a fence somebody built in 1992.
48 inches of rain a yearFalls on this part of the Upstate against a US average of 38, which is why drainage and hole diameter get as much thought as the fence itself on a freshly graded lot.
Get the architectural approval before we order material
Nearly every new Wren subdivision comes with covenants and an architectural review committee, and they typically restrict height, material, color and which side of the fence faces the street. The approved answers are usually black aluminum where the fence is visible from the road and white or tan vinyl in the rear, with wood allowed in some neighborhoods and not others.
We will build to whatever gets approved and we will give you the material specification, height and layout in writing to submit. What we will not do is start on a spec that has not been signed off, because the fence that has to come back down is the most expensive one anybody buys.

The fence services Wren asks for most
In Wren these are nearly all first fences rather than replacements, which means the line has never been set, the pins still exist and the covenants still apply.
Chain Link Fence Installation in Wren, SCChain link rarely clears a Wren architectural committee for a front or side line, but it is still the right tool for a rear line facing woods where covenants allow it.
Wood Fence Installation in Wren, SCWood is allowed in some Wren neighborhoods and not others, so the covenants get read before we price it rather than after.
Vinyl Fence Installation in Wren, SCVinyl passes most Wren architectural committees on sight and needs no staining, which suits a family that just spent everything on the house.
Aluminum Fence Installation in Wren, SCBlack powder coated aluminum is the standard approved answer where a Wren fence is visible from the street, and it racks down the graded slopes these lots were cut into.
Privacy Fence Installation in Wren, SCNew subdivision lots put houses close together with no mature trees yet, so a privacy fence here is doing all the screening work by itself.
Fence Repair in Wren, SCEven young fences here fail early when posts went into compacted clay in a hole that was too narrow, and that is a fixable problem rather than a replacement.
Fence Replacement in Wren, SC
Wood & Composite
Wood and composite fencing in Wren, SC
Wood is neighborhood dependent here. Where it is allowed, board on board is the version that still screens in year three, and composite is worth pricing on a lot with no shade.

Picket Fence Installation in Wren, SC
Shadowbox Fence Installation in Wren, SC
Board on Board Fence Installation in Wren, SCOverlapped boards keep a new fence private after the lumber shrinks through its first Upstate summer, which a standard privacy fence will not.
Horizontal Fence Installation in Wren, SCHorizontal slat fencing suits the newer architecture going up along the Highway 81 corridor, and it needs straight stock and tighter post spacing from the start.
Composite Fence Installation in Wren, SCComposite is worth pricing on a new Wren lot with no shade, because full sun and 48 inches of rain a year are hard on bare wood.

Questions we get asked
Fence questions from Wren homeowners
My neighborhood has an architectural committee. What do you need from me?
Get the approval in hand before we order material, and we will give you what you need to apply: the material specification, the height, the layout and which face shows to the street. Most Wren committees decide on those four points, and most of them publish an approved list that narrows it to black aluminum, white or tan vinyl and sometimes wood.
We will not start on an unapproved spec. It is not caution for its own sake, it is that the homeowner carries the risk if a committee makes a fence come down, and a phone call before we order costs nothing while a rebuild costs everything.
My yard was just graded and the sod is new. Should I wait to fence it?
You do not need to wait for the sod, but you do want to know where the water goes. New lots are cut and filled, then compacted by equipment, and the builder shapes swales along the rear and side lines to carry runoff between houses. Those swales are often inside a recorded drainage easement, and a fence dropped into one can dam it.
We walk the grade at the quote and look for the low line, the downspout outlets and any easement shown on your plat. The fence goes where it will not trap water, the bottom is set to clear the swale where one crosses the line, and the posts are set with hole diameter and concrete chosen for compacted clay rather than for garden soil.
How soon can you get to a job in Wren?
Quotes are usually quick, because we run 7am to 7pm seven days a week and Wren is inside Anderson County with no trip charge. Weekend measures are normal here, which helps in a community where both adults in a new house are often commuting toward Greenville during the week.
Install timing depends on material and on your covenants. Vinyl and aluminum come in a specified color and profile, so committee approval and ordering drive the schedule more than our calendar does. We will give you a realistic date at the quote and tell you if something is sitting on a supplier rather than on us.
